Dismissal Policies
Grade 5 Fall Term ONLY
Grade 5 families: Grade 5 students are not permitted to self dismiss during the fall term, either from the academic day or from After-School Programs. A caregiver must be present to pick up their 5th grader at the end of the program during the fall term. If you have a change in pick-up, or if your child is going home with another family member/caregiver, please email [email protected]. In addition, please forward any caregiver information to [email protected].
Kindly note that any adult picking up a student from an After-School program/club must have a school-issued ID badge.
During After-School hours, 2:30-5:30 pm, please contact [email protected] for emergencies or any late changes to pick-up.
Failure to pick up your child at the time of program dismissal will result in an associated fee.
Dwight After-School reserves the right to remove any student from an After-School program/club due to repeated late pick-ups. No refunds will be issued.
Grades 5-8 Self Dismissal
Grade 5: Self-dismissal for After-School programs will start after the return from winter break, and at the beginning of the winter term for grade 5. Until then, all students enrolled in fall After-School programs must be picked up at the activity's dismissal time.
If you do not want your 5th grade student self dismissing, kindly email us at [email protected] to let us know.
Grades 6-8: Students can self-dismiss from 21 West 88th Street all school year.
Registration
Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.
Programs/clubs have limited capacity. A waiting list is available and based on the order of sign-up.
Please review the living 2025-26 After-School Calendar, with important key dates and registration timeline.
Confirmation of registration will be sent shortly before the start of the program/club.
Dwight After-School reserves the right to cancel any after-school class that does not have adequate enrollment. You will be notified of any cancellations prior to the first week of programming.
Full payment is due at the time of registration.
Attendance
Attendance is mandatory for all After-School programs/clubs.
Although we provide no-fee offerings for families, there are still costs associated with these programs that are sponsored by the school. The success of all our programs and clubs rely on consistent attendance of our students, and as such attendance is mandatory regardless of program tuition.
If your child is anticipated to be absent or late for the program/club or during the academic day, please notify us via this email so that we can make necessary arrangements and ensure all enrolled students are accounted for in their respective programs. Email [email protected] before 2 pm.
Attendance will be taken at 3:15 pm for each program and club. An email will be sent home for any student marked absent who hasn’t notified us of their absence. This ensures they have time to get a snack on campus only and unlock their Yondr pouches.
Students who are not at school before 11:40 am or absent on any given day may not participate in After-School Programs/clubs.
If a student has more than three absences, they will be removed from the program/club and no refund will be given. Students who are enrolled in a no-fee program/club, a fee will be charged after the three absences.
Students are expected to follow the same standards of conduct and behavior while in their After-School Programs that are required during the regular school day. Failure to do so can result in removal from the program/club.
Technology
Though phones are removed from Yondr pouches after school, students are not to use cell phones or wear smartwatches during After-School Programs.
After-School Refunds and Class Changes
Please notify us after the first day of the program/club if you would like to cancel or transfer your registration, as there are NO REFUNDS after the first week of programming. There are no exceptions to this policy; please be familiar with the policy before registering your child for After-School Programs. A non-refundable $50 registration fee applies if you cancel the program before the first week of programming begins
Class changes: Class withdrawals are subject to the refund policy. Due to strict enrollment capacity, we will not be able to accommodate all change requests. There will be a $50 surcharge for each change made after the first week of programming.
Once you register for After-School Programs, no refunds will be issued if you decide to withdraw mid-term due to participation in performing arts activities or winter/spring athletic teams.
In the event of inclement weather or other unforeseeable circumstances, After-School Programs may close, and advance notice will be given. No refunds/credits will be given.
Dwight After-School does not offer make-up classes or refunds for any missed classes due to illness or being absent from school.
