Middle School Winter & Spring After-School General Policies

AFTER-SCHOOL GENERAL INFORMATION 

Our After-School Program offers a wide variety of specialty classes and activities per term. Term sessions’ length and cost can vary; sessions are held from 3-4 pm or 3-4:30 pm unless otherwise stated on our schedule.

There are no exceptions to policies in this document; please be familiar with the policies before registering your child for after-school programs.

HEALTH OFFICE

  • The Health Office is open daily from 8 am until 5 pm.  

  • In the event that the healthcare provider is not available, we have an adequate number of faculty and staff members who are First Aid and CPR-AED trained to respond to medical emergencies during after-school programs.

SECURITY POLICIES

  • In order to maintain a productive and safe environment for all Dwight community members, we request that all parents and guardians wear their School-issued parent/caregiver ID badges when dropping off and picking up children. Please note that new families will receive their ID badges at the beginning of the school year.

  • Our Security team is strictly enforcing this policy.

DISMISSAL POLICIES

  • All students will be dismissed from the 21 West 88th Street entrance. Grade 5 parents: If you prefer that your child not self-dismiss, please email after-school@dwight.edu.

FINANCIAL AID

  • Financial aid for After-School programs is available to families receiving financial aid from the school. You will receive communication regarding your financial aid package from the Financial Aid Department.


REGISTRATION

  • Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.

  • Programs/clubs have limited capacity. A waiting list is available and based on the order of sign-up.

  • Please review the living 2024-25 After-School Calendar, with important key dates and registration timeline.

  • Confirmation of registration will be sent shortly before the start of the program/club.

  • Dwight After-School reserves the right to cancel any after-school class that does not have adequate enrollment. You will be notified of any cancellations prior to the first week of programming. Full payment is due at the time of registration.

ATTENDANCE

  • Attendance is mandatory for all after-school programs/clubs.

  • Although we offer no fee offerings for families, there are still costs associated with these programs that are sponsored by the school. The success of all our programs and clubs rely on consistent attendance of our students, and as such attendance is mandatory regardless of program tuition.

  • If your child is anticipated to be absent or late for the program/club or during academic day, please notify us via this email so that we can make necessary arrangements and ensure all enrolled students are accounted for in their respective programs.Email after-school@dwight.edu before 2:00 pm.

  • Attendance will be taken at 3:15 PM for each program and club. An email will be sent home for any student marked absent who hasn’t notified us of their absence. This ensures they have time to get a snack on campus only and unlock their Yondr pouches.

  • Students who are not at school before 11:40 am or absent on any given day may not participate in After-School programs/clubs.

  • If a student has more than three absences, they will be removed from the program/club and no refund will be given. Students who are enrolled in a no fee programs/club, a fee will be charged after the three absences.

  • Students are expected to follow the same standards of conduct and behavior while in their after-school programs that are required during the regular school day. Failure to do so can result in removal from the program/club.

TECHNOLOGY

  • Students are not to use cell phones or wear smartwatches during after-school programming.

AFTER-SCHOOL REFUNDS AND CLASS CHANGES

  • Please notify us after the first day of the program/club if you would like to cancel or transfer your registration, as there are NO REFUNDS after the first week of programming. There are no exceptions to this policy; please be familiar with the policy before registering your child for after-school programs. 

  • Class changes: Class withdrawals are subject to the refund policy. Due to strict enrollment capacity, we will not be able to accommodate all change requests. There will be a $50 surcharge for each change made after the first week of programming.

  • Once you register for after-school programs, no refunds will be issued if you decide to withdraw mid-term due to participation in performing arts activities or winter/spring athletic teams.

  • In the event of inclement weather or other unforeseeable circumstances, after-school programs may close, and advance notice will be given. No refunds/credits will be given.

  • Dwight After-School does not offer make-up classes or refunds for any missed classes due to students being absent from school or illness.
