In this after-school club, the ins and outs of life for autistic individuals will be highlighted. The club will venture into the experiences of children and teenagers with autism — and experiences of autistic adults through collaboration with the non-profit organization, Luv Michael. Luv Michael employs autistic adults, who typically experience significantly low rates of employment, to make handmade granola. Club members will have the opportunity to do volunteer work and help this organization by being involved in their service programs. Aside from learning about autism and creating student-made presentations (which highlight the wide range of ages that struggle with autism), we will also organize charity events to raise money for Luv Michael (such as walks, with all profits directed towards this organization) and potentially collaborate with the Lower and Middle Schools to raise awareness for this vital cause. With this club, members will both earn community service hours and have further opportunities for service.
